Happy National Day Oman!

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said

Today is the 45th National Day of the Sultanate of Oman. This country has successfully balanced tradition and modernization. These was made possible by His Majesty, Sultan Qaboos bin Said who is also celebrating his 75th Birthday.

Unlike other countries where National Days may be a mix of celebrations and street protests, Omanis celebrate this day in jubilation and gratitude for their Ruler.The streets are filled with His Majesty's picture and the colors of their flag - Green, Red and White illuminate at night.

Companies made their own preparations to honor this special day. Our team decorated our office with flags and balloons and the hotel I work for hosted a Colleague's gathering to celebrate the event. The locals were wearing their best outfits. While us, expatriates also wore Abayas, Omani dresses and dishdashas.

The night of the 18th of November is sure-ball traffic! Locals parade at night with their cars covered with Sultan Qaboos stickers and Flags to express their love to their leader. My usual 10 minute travel from work to my flat turned into nearly an hour trip.

The streets are filled with people celebrating

His majesty made a promise to his people 45 years ago. He said the he will work to give his people a happy life and a better future. He will make make Oman a prestigious place in the Arab World. Oman was before in darkness and he has started the dawn of his country and his people. As we look at this country today, we can say that he fulfilled his promise. Oman Strides Forward

I am grateful to this country not only for giving me the opportunity to work, but also for giving me new friends and family, A Second Home.
