At my age, there are still a couple of outdoor activities that I haven't experienced and that includes camping. I'm proud to say that last December 4th, camping was taken out of my list.
Fins is located at the Sharqiya Region approximately 150 km / 1 1/2 hours journey from Muscat. You have to go through a stretch of dirt road to discover a hidden paradise awaiting for you to explore.

Fins is a Public Beach, and as expected (due to the long weekend) there were already a couple of Day Campers at the area when we arrived. The weather was perfect and the ocean is absolutely stunning. I chose not to swim that day because I don't want to feel sticky later as there are NO bathrooms there. Yes, no toilets, no shower rooms - just bushes :)

Bushes, bushes, bushes.... |
At first I thought that the place would have been better if there were more lights and public rest rooms. But a friend pointed out that being in that kind of situation is the whole reason why we are there. Running away from the city and being one with nature.
Before dusk, the day campers went home and we got ourselves a sweet location to camp. All of us got our tents upgraded to a closer view of the ocean.

Day Campers clearing up before sunset |
As night time approached, I was mesmerized on what the sky has in store for my eyes. Behold the stars! Without exaggeration, I must say that I have never, in my entire existence, seen that much stars.

Starry, starry Night |
Not that I'm being cheesy, but those were the moments I wished Mr. H was with me. I went into my tent quite early because of a terrible headache. Good thing my friend, Andrea had Advil. Problem solved. I eventually re-joined the group and got some nice pictures taken.

I LUV U Mr. H!

Even though we got the area for ourselves that night, it was quite a challenge for me to sleep since the 2 groups camping at the west and south side of our location were playing Loud Music. Eventually, I managed to doze off.
I intentionally woke up at 5AM to the catch dawn and boy it was Amazing! I can't believe that the Pitch-dark horizon would suddenly give birth to different streaks of color that would eventually lead to sunrise. Again, another cheesy moment that would have been perfect if I had Mr. H by my side.

Good Morning Gulf of Oman! |
After breakfast, I decided to swim. Since it's December, the water was quite chilly at first. There were also fishermen trying to get their catch for the day.

This experience is something I wouldn't forget. For those who plan spending the day/night at Fins you have to make sure that you have all the necessities for
camping
I hope to be more active in 2016. Do you have more outdoor activities that you would like to suggest? Feel free to share!
Till then!
