The Royal Opera House Muscat

My Daddy's a Music lover. He is fond of Classical,Opera and Broadway Music. He has a collection of CDs which he listens as often as he can. I remember at a young age, Sunday means waking up with Tchaikovsky, Pavarotti, Domingo, Classical Oboes, Verde Aida and other Symphony Orchestras that I don't even know how to pronounce nor spell properly. He always told us people who appreciate these kind of Music are Smart people. So I pushed myself to like it too. Hahaha.

One of the perks of living in Muscat is that the city has an Opera House - Which is just in front of the hotel I work at. How cool is that?!

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos is supportive to home grown Talents as well as Classical Music. The Royal Opera House Muscat was built to be the Premiere Performing Arts Center in Oman.

It is the first Opera House in the Middle East that can seat a maximum of 1100 people. Since it opened in 2011, it has hosted a wide array of performances from Ballet, Arab, Jazz, African and Asian Music. ROH is a fusion of Islamic Arts and Modern Architecture. The Chandelier, ceilings, doors and  walls can be considered as attractions.

I had the privilege to watch some performances such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Music Man, The Suzzane Farrell Ballet. Last night we attended the first performance of Lucia Di Lammermoore. The performance was purely sung in Italian. But the back of each seats has a small monitor that shows translations of the lyrics in English or in Arabic. So understanding story was an easy-breezy.

Anyways, I suddenly missed my daddy. I bet he would have enjoyed if he was with me. :)

I should have worn my heels :(
